In the autumn holidays, an enthusiastic group of 20 youth members (12-15 years) from the Alkmaar Waterratten (DAW) left for Darmstadt in Germany for an unforgettable water polo camp. Early on Saturday morning, players, coaches and supervisors gathered at the Hoornse Vaart before departure. The atmosphere was immediately good: music on the bus, smiling faces and a lot of desire for a week full of sport and adventure.
In Darmstadt, the program was full of activities. Every day there was a lot of training in the local pool, where technique, teamwork and fitness were central. Also, practice matches were played against the German team, which made for exciting matches and many learning moments.
After the hard work, there was of course time for relaxation. The group stayed in a cozy hostel and enjoyed fun outings, including a city walk through Darmstadt, a nice BBQ, laser games and a challenging visit to the climbing forest. in the evening there was time for games, socializing and, of course, a lot of laughter.
The camp was a great success: new friendships, sporting growth and unforgettable memories. Everyone came back to Alkmaar tired but satisfied. A big thank you to the trainers, supervisors and sponsors who made this fantastic camp possible!
Plans are currently being made with the Association in Darmstadt for an exchange in the coming year. Even then, the AUC is willing to make a financial contribution.
